Ingredients
  • 1/2 pound beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 head broccoli, cut into florets
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 thumb-sized piece ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon 1 cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (cornstarch slurry)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
    Prepare the Beef:
  1. In a bowl, season the sliced beef with a pinch of salt and pepper. dust with some cornstarch. Set aside.
  2. Blanch the Broccoli:
  3. Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add the broccoli florets and blanch for 2-3 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and set aside.
  4. Cook the Beef:
  5. Heat a large pan or wok over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil. Add the beef slices in a single layer and stir-fry until browned and just cooked through, about 4 minutes. Remove the beef and set aside.
  6. Stir-Fry the Aromatics:
  7. Add the minced garlic and ginger, and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  8. Make the Sauce:
  9. Add the beef broth, soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and sugar to the pan. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
  10. Combine and Thicken:
  11. Add the blanched broccoli and cooked beef back to the pan. Toss everything together to coat in the sauce.
  12. Pour in the cornstarch slurry, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli evenly.
  13. Serve:
