Questions, Answered

Where is Maricel's Kitchen located?
We are at 111 Main Street, East Brunswick, New Jersey 08816, in central New Jersey, easy to reach from Edison, New Brunswick, Old Bridge, and Princeton.
What does Maricel's Kitchen offer?
We are a Filipino restaurant and culinary studio. We serve Filipino Brunch Towers every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm, host Kamayan Tower feasts and supper club dinners by schedule, teach hands-on Filipino and Asian cooking classes, and offer catering, chef's table dinners, and private events.
When is brunch, and can I walk in?
We serve Filipino Brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm. Last seating is at 2:30pm, and the kitchen closes at 3pm. Walk-ins are welcome, though reservations are the best way to secure your table, especially for groups.
Do I need a reservation for dinners and experiences?
Yes. Our Kamayan Tower dinners, à la carte dinners, supper clubs, and chef's table experiences all run on a schedule, and reservations are required. We do this on purpose. Each one is a prepared, intimate experience: the menu is planned, the table is set, and seats are limited so every guest is truly cared for. It is less like grabbing a quick meal and more like being invited to dinner. Reserving ahead is what lets us cook for you with care and welcome you like family.
Do I need cooking experience to take a class?
Not at all. Our classes are hands-on and welcoming to every level. Chef Maricel guides you step by step, the same way her Lola guided her. You will leave having cooked a full dish yourself.
What is a Kamayan or Boodle Fight feast?
Kamayan is a traditional Filipino communal feast eaten with your hands, served over banana leaves. It is food meant to be shared, and it is one of the most joyful ways to gather a group. We host these by schedule and for private events.
Do you cater off-site events and parties?
Yes. We offer on-site and off-site catering across Central New Jersey, from drop-off party trays to full-service events of every size. We have catered everything from small, intimate dinners to large affairs of 700 guests and more, including private parties, milestone celebrations, showers, and rehearsal dinners, with Filipino and Asian menus built around your gathering.
Do you offer corporate catering and corporate events?
Yes. We cater corporate events of all sizes, from executive lunches and client dinners to large workforce and frontline meals. We have served teams at companies and organizations across New Jersey, including Johnson and Johnson, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Princeton University, Robert Wood Johnson, and more. We offer drop-off, on-site, and full-service options with Filipino, Asian, and cross-cultural menus.
Do you do corporate team building cooking classes?
Yes, and they are one of our most popular corporate offerings. Our hands-on team building cooking classes bring your group into the kitchen to cook a Filipino or Asian meal together, guided by Chef Maricel. They work for teams of roughly 10 to 25, build real connection, and end with everyone sharing the meal they made. We can host at our studio in East Brunswick or arrange for your group.
Do you cater weddings?
Yes. We offer full-service wedding catering with authentic Filipino and Asian cuisine, and we specialize in cross-cultural and bicultural weddings that honor both families at the table. From plated dinners to family-style feasts and Kamayan towers, we build a menu that tells your story. We serve weddings throughout Central New Jersey.
Can you cater the events around the wedding, not just the wedding day?
Absolutely, and this is something we love. We cater the whole wedding weekend, engagement parties, bridal showers, bachelorette brunches, rehearsal dinners, welcome dinners for out-of-town guests, and day-after brunches. One kitchen, one chef who knows your story, every gathering from the proposal to the send-off.
Do you cater Filipino family celebrations and cultural events?
Yes. We cater Filipino family celebrations including debuts, birthdays, Noche Buena, and milestone gatherings, with Boodle Fight and Kamayan feasts, lechon, and the dishes that taste like home. We also serve cross-cultural and pan-Asian families with menus that honor more than one tradition at the same table.
Can I book a private cooking class or private event?
Absolutely. Private classes are perfect for date nights, birthdays, family gatherings, and corporate team building. We also host private dinners and chef's table experiences at our studio at 111 Main. Reach out through our contact page and we will help you plan it.
Do you offer custom cakes and dessert stations?
Yes. Our pastry program creates custom cakes for weddings, showers, and celebrations. We also offer Filipino dessert stations including a Halo Halo Bar, an Ube Bar, and a Boba Bar that make any event memorable.
Can you accommodate food allergies, gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan needs?
Yes. We are happy to work with food allergies and dietary needs, including gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, and nut allergies. For our cooking classes, let us know your dietary needs when you book and we will tailor the menu so you can cook and enjoy right along with everyone. For dining and catering, please tell us ahead of time and we will work with you to make sure there is something wonderful on your plate. The earlier you let us know, the more we can do for you.
